Nature Awaits!
With Granville having a lot of land that is untouched by homes and other town buildings, various trails and natural locations result. There are a lot of spots where one can go for a lovely walk or hike and see the beautiful forests, springs, ponds and be one with nature. Granville Gorge
The Granville Gorge Welcomes You!
Greenery engulfing the rushing waters
Right before you enter Granville on Route 57, coming from Southwick, MA, you will see a sign that invokes mystery. The Granville Gorge is a magical place full of greenery engulfing on breathtaking mini waterfalls and swimming holes. It is a great place to go explore! Take a hike on the little paths following the water ways or go for a refreshing swim. For a more relaxed approach, listen to the rushing waters as you lay on the big flat stones along the bank. It's a unique place to cool off on a hot summer day that you will want to continue to visit!
Granville State Forest
The Granville State Forest Welcomes You!
The trails follow alongside various streams
If you're looking for more of a secluded location deeper in the town of Granville, the Granville State Forest is a great place to check out! Located in West Granville off of Route 57 is a dirt road that will lead you to a wonderful place to take advantage of the great outdoors. Full of trails, both dirt and paved, you can go for a walk, take a hike, snowshoe, cross country ski, and mountain bike as it leads you on a peaceful escape through the woods. There are streams to fish in and even a place to camp out if you want to extend your stay. It's also dog-friendly, so don't forget to bring your furry friend! They will love the break from city-life just as much as you! For more information or want to reserve a campsite, check out www.mass.gov.
Granville Water Works
The water and maintenance building at the Granville Waterworks
The beautiful scenery at the Granville Waterworks
The Granville Water Works is more of a hidden secret. Located right along one of the busier roads in Granville (Old Westfield Road) is a small pull off and gate. To the average person this may be a quick place to stop, but to the local Granvillian this is a place to go for a relaxing stroll with your friends or family. The Granville Water Works is actually the location of a man-made reservoir with a clear trail that wraps along the side of it. Not only will you get a nice workout with a trail that can take about an hour and a half to walk, but along the way you can see the beautiful blue water, squirrels climbing tall trees, and hear the chirping songs of the birds. It's a great way to get in a quick nature escape!
